Invite a friend to play a game task not working

I've invited someone to lobby quite a few times, and I can't seem to get credited for the task on the event page. I have tried 5 different games, i have played said games with people i invite, and i have tried to invite different friends using all methods of invite. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Go to Settings > Remote Play and enable the feature. you can disable it later if you wish.

Go into your library and do a filter search for Remote Play Together (it's one of the preset options).

If you have a game with that feature, start that game. Bring up your ui with shift-tab, and friends list. Find someone, anyone, right click them and invite to Remote Play (NOT to lobby, that does not work).

They don't have to play, just be invited.

check if yu have supporting games using filter- start a game - just open to main menu then shift tab to open the overlay, rightclick a friend click on remote play together. Thats it. close the game.

Thanks everyone. It worked when I did the remote play invite. I did it on a game i'd tried it with several times just doing the invite to lobby... Anyway, got it now, thanks!

even this didnt work for me
funny how a normal invite on my second account worked fine but now nothing works

There might be a delay on tracking the "Quest". It did not register for ages spamming my friends with invites and then it suddenly was there.

It's broken for me as well, exact same issue, I think the Remote Play service is degraded and doesn't fully work at the moment.

Also Just ran into this issue today when I was trying to start up Overcooked 2. Is there any way to get a hold of steam? or is this about it? (Don't do much on forums)
