Looking for a way to play Lan games via online means.

So I've been digging my way through some old games, some being abandonware.
But a problem I've been running through is that, some games often have dead servers, and hosted servers often don't show up on some games. And the only way to play those is via a local Lan network.
I've been struggling to find ways to play some games with some friends who happen to live in a different country.
Someone recommended me this software called "Tungle" which as he described it, allows you to host private/public Lan parties through the internet.
But after looking it up, I found that it's been shut down for some reason.
Now do you have any idea on how I can play those.
I've been wanting to play Half Life: Decay, but the only working co op option is via Lan for some reason.

A VPN is the way to go. Loads of people swear on Hamachi, I prefer something less intrusive and more standartized, but a VPN is the way for you to go.

I did try Softether VPN, but it didn't seem to work.
I tried creating a private server and it showed offline.
When we joined the already online public servers, the game wasn't detecting the server in-game even after being connected.

Someone recommended me Hamachi as well, but some seem to straight up oppose it, as if it's better to not play games than use hamachi.

No idea. - Works well for me. I also used it for work awhile back to transfer files.

Try something standardized. Don't go with some flashy name, go with a standard protocol. And verify whether normal LAN things work, such as folder sharing.

Or roll with Hamachi, others (me) hating it doesn't mean you'll hate it.

I dunno- Using windows VPN, and not knowing really what you are doing, is kinda risky. O_o But it is useful.
