(SOLVED- view for help) Winter Event Check List: Invite Friend Quest- NOT WORKING

(SOLVED!!! View below if you are having the same issue)

So I have been doing the quests for winter sale every day. Today's quest is to invite a friend to a game lobby via steam overlay (shift+tab). No matter how many times I try this, or in what way, it is not working.

I correctly did this using the game Stick Fighter, invited a friend to the game lobby via the steam over lay, and we even played for a while. Still did not check off my quest.

We tried on Rocket League where he invited me from in the game, tried to send invites from steam overlay, we do not understand why we are having this problem.

Anyone who has completed this quest can you tell me EXACTLY how you did it?
Or has anyone else had this problem and figured out how to fix it?

I would be very upset to loose out on the badge that comes from completing all quests just because one is glitched out for me

People have had success using Remote Play Together rather than the advertised Invite To Lobby. If you do not have a compatible game, I recommend

Double checked, both Stick Fight and Rocket League do support Remote Play Together

nope looks like its broken ive tried like 10 friends and they enter and still dont mark that i have done it ...

Thanks gonna try that right now and if it doesnt work we'll try on that game.

New(ish) feature that allows you to play local multiplayer games without the need of having the other player next to you.

Remote play is the option below Invite to Lobby. That said, it has to be enabled in the Steam settings and you have to be in online mode.

For Remote Play, the other person does not have to own the game.

just went and looked @ remote play and its on but no option when inviting friends ...sounds more like lets get people to DL a game to do this........THATS JUST STUPID FORGET

Someone I am helping not able to do it. update Steam up to date, enable remote play, is online, still can't get it to work. So weird.
Anyone can help with this?

( Note: I got mine done, but my friend can't do it )

You do need a game that supports the feature. CS:S, GTA5 and Black Mesa do not support Remote Play Together. they're on your recently played list so I'm assuming part of your testing.

The Library does have a filter for Remote Play Together enabled titles if you want to see if something else you have will work. The filter can be accessed by clicking the double horizontal lines next to the search field.

Another common problem is if the user is Invisible. They need their status set to Online in order to send the invite

Tried all of this and still no go. I even tried running the same game which worked for my kid's account. Even swapped logons (mine on their comp, them on mine) and still nothing even with exact same game.

Valve needs to just fix this broken .

It's online. up to date, tried web browser and client both come up error
And remote setting is enable too

Edit: I put mine online too, but we both seem not not come up with a solution. :(
