Can you regain ownership of your own group after accidentally leaving?
I created this one group that has only one player in it who I do not know and for whatever reason I made admin. Now, because I had really no use for the group I left it and immediately remembered him... The group was supposed to be just a gaming group for other people who are also on a Discord server I own. But, given nobody from there joins Steam I decided to get rid of it. But, because ownership automatically transfers to an admin or mod when the owner leaves, I have no access to it. It wasn't even a public group. I have to request permission to join.

Now, here's the kicker: I do not know this admin member personally, and he isn't active on Steam anymore. Been gone for nearly over two months.

Is it possible to contact Steam Support and regain ownership?
I already contacted Steam Support about it just now, but I wanted to ask here if anyone knows if they can even help me with this. The group also contains the link to my Discord server which I wanted to remove as well, but I can't now.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

No. Ownership can not be manually transferred.

Transferring Ownership

When the current owner leaves the group, the oldest Officer (by join date) will be promoted to owner. If no eligible Officers are available, the oldest Moderator will inherit ownership. If there are no Moderators in the group, the oldest group member will be promoted to owner. The ownership of a group cannot be manually transferred.

No you can't and Steam won't intervene. This is why you kick everyone from the group before leaving.

Oof. Guess I'll have to live with the fact that someone owns my stupid empty group.
Well, thanks. I'll still leave the support ticket up to see what support says about it.

Thanks again.

Yeah, I did look that up. But, I had hoped the "The ownership of a group cannot be manually transferred." meant more like a normal user manually transferring ownership to another.
Not including Steam support... Oof.
