The current version of the game needs a Dx11 Card (Space Engineers)
I got space engineers from my son for Christmas. But when we went to launch it it gave us the error message "The current version of the game requires a Dx11 card." I have looked at other discussions and gone through some of the steps they have used including uninstalling it and deleting all files (tried it 3 times over the process)
I have been able to get it ti run using the Dx9 32bit beta version but according to CAN YOU RUN IT I have more than good enough hardware to run it the only problem I have is 4gb of instead of 8. I have bought an 8gb ram card and it should be arriving tomorrow taking my total way bwyond the 8gb requirement. Does anyone know if that fix it? even though its go nothing to do with the Graphics card?
Any Suggestions would be appreciated.

Without knowing your hardware, current and what you purchased we can only guess.

Specs?

Without actually knowing what graphics card you have, upgrading or adding more ram will not fix the "requires a dx11 card" issue.

Go to Start, search for DxDiag and run it. Under the System tab tell us what is listed beside "DirectX Version". Then select the Display tab and tell us what is listed beside "Name" under Device.

According to Wikipedia, it only supports dx 10.1.

In all seriousness, do 8 GB cards that don't support DirectX 11 exist? I know video card manufacturers love dumping unnecessary VRAM on weak GPUs to make them appear more attractive to buyers, but I can't imagine any card existing that has 8 GB of VRAM and also does not support DirectX 11.

I do not yet gave the 8gb ram it is being delivered tomorrow. But Dxdiag still tells me i have directx11 on the single 4gb ram I have.

That series of cards do not support direct 11. No games that require direct 11 will work.

You got the DX11 runtime installed. Your hardware doesn't run DX11 though.

Yeah unfortunately you have no other option but to upgrade the graphics card really. The HD4800 series first lunched back in 2008 so they are old cards.
