HyperX Cloud II Headset Mic Not Working with Volume Control Box

The audio in my headset still works, it's just the microphone doesn't pick up any input. Without the volume control box, using only the 3.5mm audio jack in my phone, the microphone works fine so I'm thinking there's something wrong with the volume control box.

What I've found interesting is that when I switch between the mute and unmute settings on the side of the volume control box, it picks up audio the instant it switches, then doesn't pick it up anymore.

Trying uninstalling the HyperX Virtual Surround Sound and updating the Firmware

Are there any known fixes to this? Thank you.
