Question about the Steam holiday coupon

The coupon allows me to save $6 off of my next purchase, and I just have a question about how exactly it is used.

Let's say for example that I want to buy an $8 game and I only have $2 in my Steam wallet, would I be allowed to buy the game since I don't have enough money to buy it normally but I have the coupon? Or can you only be allowed to buy it if you have enough money to buy it normally?

Basically:

You can have $8 in your Steam wallet, buy an $8 game, and only end up spending $2 because of the coupon, however can you do it vice versa? Where you only have $2 in your Steam wallet, and are able to buy an $8 game because of the coupon

you make it way more complicated then it is,

coupon or discount at a game , then it will use wallet and then rest from credit card.

sure things can go wrong , but that is what has happend in all my time at steam.

ps.
most people problem is with own bank, some bank only work at bankdays ( weekend and holidays can be a issue ) and its here many get cancel possibilities or confirm at monday then bank is appoval transaction. ( to few people dont know this )

Just incase you should know
if you use funds from your wallet to buy a game it wont give you the tokens .
It will give you tokens if you add funds just dont buy games using wallet funds.
Steam Event details at the bottom of the page
You will be granted Festivity Tokens when you fund your Steam Wallet (during the sale) or make a purchase using non-Steam Wallet funds.<<< I cant say if tjhsi still applies when using a coupon with wallet.. I'd suggest you use the coupon with your Pay Pal or credit card.
