Inappropriate username and avatar?

So recently I've been playing CS:GO under the nickname "Osama bin Laden" and with his photo on my avatar for the lulz. A few days ago my name was changed to some random sequence of numbers, my avatar was deleted and I got banned from changing my profile picture for a week. I looked through Steam Community Guidelines and Steam Online Conduct as advised in that nice little message I got from Steam and I really couldn't find any rules that I could've had violated. My friends going by the names of Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin with adequate avatars had no problems so far. We came across many players with similar or the exact same pictures and names and there's also a lot of users with exactly that nickname when you search for it on Steam. So does that seriously break any rules (and if so, which ones?) and can there be any more serious consequences of using these kinds of names and profile pictures?

You can get a permanent lock on your avatar and name with repeated violations.

If you have to ask, don't use it.

Someone probably reported your username/avatar and Steam support removed it. Chances are if your friends got reported then their Hitler/Stalin avatars would also be removed. I suggest not using things like this, but if you have questions then contact support, as mentioned in the community message.

I'm not going to use it anymore but other people seem to be getting away with these usernames and avatars so it's so bizarre to me that I've got punished.

Others doing something is never an excuse to do it yourself.

Not all moderators act on inappropriate content in profiles. You just happened to get lucky and get dinged by the rare moderator that does care.
