Problem: Chat Window Maximizes Repeatedly
At least half a dozen times now I've accidentally "maximized" the Steam chat window. I use quotes because it's not using the Windows maximize feature; it's just resizing to fill the screen. To fix it I have to manually resize and reposition the window. Over and over again. It's annoying, but I don't even know what I'm doing to make this happen. Is there a way to make Steam Chat stop doing this?

Besides, each time I open random friends' chat window, it duplicates, and once I close one of them, both close...

I'm sort of having a similar issue. I have my chat window maximized and then for whatever reason it goes and gets even bigger going outside the range of the border of the screen. I cant manually scroll (not using mouse wheel) I resize it by moving the window which goes back to a smaller window. I maximize it again only a few moments later for it to do it again.

Yeah, have the exact same issue. Resizing the damn window to the screen size.

What's causing it? No idea. I use a lot of "Alt + Tab"s, and it mostly happens after i write something and immediately switch the active window. But I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it.

How to fix it? Live with it and try not to suicide? I guess?

It does seem to be related to Alt-Tabbing a lot, but it's not simply that key combination.

Same issue here. I am not able to reproduce this issue to show any support person. It happens at least once a week tho. I play ~15 hrs a week.

Okay. I actually thought i've already tried this key combination but i seemlingly haven't. With "Alt + Enter" you can maximize the chat window. But instead of maximizing (what would make way more sense), it's just resizing. You can switch to the size before by pressing "Alt + Enter" again.

It should really just normally maximize (even if i'd like this combination away entirely because Alt+Tabbing is an handy and cool thing and with pressing enter for sending a message, it's just inconvenient). The way it's implemented now just seems stupid :/

Alt+Enter is a work around but annoying, we need a solution

Press Alt+Enter when in the chat. It's on fullscreen mode somehow, if you press alt+enter it will exit it out of fullscreen mode and then it won't full screen and resize whenever you tab back into it.

Thanks.

I'm not 100%, but I think it has something to do with playing a game that's at a different resolution from desktop native
