My account was randomly logged into on Wednesday and i have no idea how it happened
I read a ton of questions and i know for sure this account is mine. when i login they send me the same steam guard email but with my IP and not the Ecuador IP i got on Wednesday. So i changed my password back in July before this happened to secure my accounts because i thought i was hacked. Turns out i just switched my email alias username and the old username was just being used my someone else being recycled after 30 days so that made me super scared and stressed since July.

I've been getting over that but now it seems someone tried to log into my steam account using the correct username and password and it started my fear all over again. I have changed my password again after it was logged into as well as the email password nobody has tried to log into it yet but all the stories i hear on here of people being targeted many times. I hope i dont get another email from another country anytime soon and its lucky steam guard is there as a safety net also i cant use 2 step authenticator without a cell phone number.

Mostly im just trying to find out how they got my password so easily because i never typed my password for steam in anywhere except the website when i changed my password back in July i did malware bytes scan and avg scan avg came back clean and malwarebytes got rid of one program called amazon.assistant or something that was malicious i dont know about computers very much but i also quarantined 139 threats to be sure right now im just trying to keep my self in a good mood about this i get way to paranoid please explain how he could obtain it ?

Please tell me everything i can do to check and prevent it a second time i really dont think i need to change my email passwords because nobody has logged into my email in recent activities either except my computer it seems like the hacker just picked up my password tried to log in once and then stopped seems very pointless especially with steam guard and him not knowing my email but i did change the email password anyway.

im sorry! im just over worried about it so im kinda typing fast but its like so many people had this happen to them. I shouldnt be so worried i just hope they cant access any other accounts like emails so far it just happened once to my steam account. I should honastly just forget about it unless it happens again but some advice for cleaning my computer would be helpful i dont know much about cleaning viruses or what they are capable of. i know i dont put my account password or username anywhere except steam but like some times u visit the odd sketchy nude site. but i have always done this without being hacked on any other account maybe i got lucky this once...
Compare the name in the email precisely with your login name of steam.

i know its mine because the email i got from the failed login from Ecuador said the same username as the one they put on my email yesterday. When i changed my password i looked up some people have this problem too and it really narrows it down to a virus but my computer is totally clean now how can a virus acquire my password without typing it in to anything since i changed it. its either a virus or at total random cause it seems like he got it through a leak maybe? is that possible
If you are sure the name in the email is your login name of steam,
the details leaked.
You did, or a computer DOES.

Are you 100% sure that the hello (name)
is definitely your login name?

If it is, you better make sure,
any device you used to login could be compromised.

When you get codes by email for yourself, the question is, why didnt the thief login to your email. He would have those details as well.

thats why i changed the email password aswell but in activity logs nobody but my computer logged into my email so he doesn't know my email also i never use steam often i only ever use it on this computer im using and like i said before i never type the password in anywhere else except steam and to be precise i changed my password in july before the mysterious login and then after i changed it again it really feels like he got it at random

and maybe if u have advice for cleaning my computer i can only use free things i used avg and malware bytes also i dont think i can do anything else? my computer is clean i changed passwords but it seems odd he even got it at all because it was secure before too

considering going to the local internet cafe and getting malware cleaned professionally? but really its only happened once and its just confusing weather its even a virus because i cleaned it with malwarebytes and avg
Compare the name in the email with your log in name.
Do it until you can exclude that it is not your login name.

Then compare the time stamp and remember if you logged in then.

If its definiely that someone knows your login name and was able to initiate an email from steam, the password leaked. When antivirus doesnt find anything, you should safe your computer. And all accounts used by it.

i know its mine it said it happened on Tuesday and i never even checked my emails till Wednesday then changed the passwords right away of my email and steam but i tell you say it must have been leaked? idk how it can be leaked im kinda nervous over it all but maybe a computer repair place that does malware cleaning will clean my computer and also no one has tried to access any of my other accounts only steam. does steam get these problems a lot ? cus i read a few of these before but mine seems a little unique in how it got my password

An original email from steam for login code
means,
someone did what you do when you get such an email.

but they never got access to my account i check who was using my email and nobody was on my email but me so he didnt get into my account and steam support said that he hasnt tried to log in since . so basically im to believe that my computer may be hacked ? my only fear is if that isnt the problem because i did virus scans and i just hope i dont get more logins because it feels so random that this happened recently i had this computer since 2013

When i was sure, someone used a login name and the right password, and i didnt insert them anywhere,
i would be busy format and reinstall my computer. And saving all accounts.

should the computer repair do this? i dont know how to reinstall it but i heard i should totally clean my computer before i try restarting passwords. it makes me nervous because recently i did go through all my accounts to change the email from an old username i used to use for email but when i changed names after 30 days someone takes that name for a microsoft account and recieves emails but luckly i changed all the accounts linked to it to my new account user name but its been so stressfull always changing my passwords around when its only my steam account but ill get the computer repair shop to clean my programs i have a lot of stuff i dont even know what its for so maybe they can clean it and it wont ever happen again. it only did happen once so far

and on a scan earlier today my malware bytes program blocked a malware add from amazon assistant and i never gotten rid of it till today because i never had malware bytes till today could amazon.assistant be the cause ? it made my computer screen freeze and all the icons were disappearing around the time this amazon.assistant was popping up had it for a year maybe now when it started to calm down and i could play and ignore it but now i got rid of it finally maybe it was the cause? also i have tons of random programs i should get cleaned off here im going to talk to the computer repair today and maybe i can change the passwords when its all cleaned up so im sure im not being watched? even tho i never typed my password anywhere for a month and this guy used it 2 days ago
