billing address now includes cc or bank or paypal, etc details
i dont have any issues with steam providing monies for taxes. at least thats a country or state or maybe a zip code. so i get why they need an address so the relevant tax agencies can get their cut.

but my street address? are cities now charging internet tax?
my phone number? wtf does my phone number have to do with this?
neither of those are needed. period. for that matter nor is my name.

but thats small potatos
i cant speak for all steam users but my steam is now listing payment methods accepted under billing info and steam wallet is NOT listed.
it is REQUIRING i either provide a valid paypal, credit card, debit card, bank info for direct money transfer, giro for internet transfers, etc.

steam wont let me buy stuff without providing my bank or cc info or something similar and i wont buy anything if im required to do that.

all of which is going to get the literal and figurative 2 middle finger salute from me. steam just did the unthinkable. ive been around on steam with this and my main account since mid 2004. at this point, F em. im literally done buying ANYTHING from this company EVER until i can use my wallet balance without inputitng my bank or cc, etc details.

any suggestions on how to get around entering billing info? i have a steam ticket open on this....

This is a new legal requirement that Valve have to oblige by. Complain to your government if you are unhappy.

you dont read.
sure they need some address details to pay the taxes.

1: show me the government regulation requiring steam get my bank or cc details. go on, ill wait....

2: the two links i gave --first is the drop down payment methods accepted for this and the second is the list of approved payment methods to the right of the billing information form. both list the same stuff.
i tried to buy something and if i said bank transfer it wanted to go to the bank page and if i said paypal it wanted to go to paypal page.
compare and contrast that with this from the steam wallet page
"Funds in your Steam Wallet may be used for the purchase of any game on Steam or within a game that supports Steam transactions."
except you literally CAN NOT USE THEM since now it is no longer a payment method accepted.

Steam wallet should still work when you purchase games as you also have the option to purchase steam wallet funds directly also or to use for purchases.

What are you trying to purchase that the steam wallet is not a method?
endrsgm (Banned) Jan 28, 2020 @ 1:57am
but they do NOT still work. i have a balance in my wallet. i tried to buy a game.
it required billing information. fair enough.
but it also required cc or bank or paypal, etc details. the listed "approved payment methods" in both the drop down choices and the list on the side DO NOT include steam wallet.
if you put any method into that billing info it will NOT accept you changing that for steam wallet when it comes time to finalize the sale.

this is crazy. its not even a "risque game". i literally DO NOT have wallet as a payment option
look at
https://postimg.cc/qz1ZrN9p
https://postimg.cc/WhVPzqWr
that is ALL it is accepting now for me. must be one of those.

i even chose paypal thinking ...ahh i can back out of that and get to the steam wallet code later. nope.
on the sale page i cant change the payment method to wallet.
if i click to proceed thinking i might get to it in a sec ... nope. takes me to paypal page.

Where does it say it requires payment info, because it doesn't. It's asking for a billing address but that page hasn't been updated to reflect that it's only asking for the address+phone.

Post a shot because I just bought stuff two days ago and only had to put in my billing address to use wallet funds.
So if just you leave it as steam wallet, and input the address details required, it doesn't allow you to proceed?

im feeling like you all arent listening. i literally do NOT have steam wallet as a payment option listed anymore. i gave two links. both list ALL the payment options allowed.

the first is in the drop field for billing info.
if i leave that blank it wont let me off the page. so cant even get to purchase screen.
but
if i put something in then i am required to pay using that. no option to switch back or around.

steam wallet is NOT an option on the drop down field nor is an option on the sale page where i check to accept nor can i use a payment option other than wallet and then change to wallet.

1. Your wallet is used by default and Steam will ask for a second one if your wallet does not contain enough credit to pay for the product.
2. Wallet is not shown if it is empty.

nope i will post screenshots
endrsgm (Banned) Jan 28, 2020 @ 2:09am
https://postimg.cc/yDF3MbQ9 billing information page
https://postimg.cc/mczJZ79Q billing information page with drop down open

i have 10.24 in the wallet. the game is 4.99

absolutely zero ways to get to steam wallet as the billing method off of the billing information page.
if you want i can go ahead and "try" to buy it using say paypal and prove to you that there is absolutely zero ways for me to get to steam wallet from that either ... either backing out of sale, saying to go ahead and hoping to change payment method, or even by clicking change payment method at top (steam wallet not listed there either).

edit
that is using the steam interface.
when i use ironware chromium browser the very first option on the drop down is steam wallet code :O .

edit x2
i checked and using steam interface there is literally now way for me to use a wallet code.
if i use ironware browser i can get to and complete the sale.

this is crazy.

ive been on steam since 2004. ive used wallet codes or steam cards since they came out ;)

on the steam ui if i click to buy a game there is literally NO WAY to get past that screen without choosing one of those drop down choices. wallet code is not there.

steam cards putting money into the steam wallet have always been considered payment methods. if you look it no longer is on the FOUR SCREEN SHOTS i gave.

the new billing info screen you come to when clicking to buy a game wont let you past anymore using a wallet code.

the steam wallet balance is 2x what i need for this game.

i realize you are trying to be helpful but it would help more if you read and looked at the screen shots too...
