someone is trying to gift games to me from mexico but cant
as a birthday present one of my friends (who lives in mexico) is trying to gift me (who lives in the us) the games lost in vivo and the political process. steam is not letting him do this, and after a bit of research he says that steam wont let him do it because mexico has the lowest prices in south america. i find this stupid and totally illogical that someone cant gift cross country and especially when its one way, because ive gifted him games before and it went through. any help?

Get him to buy you a gift card so that you can buy the game yourself.

If the price difference between regions is 10% or greater, the game can't be gifted.

Your friend can send you a digital Steam wallet giftcard instead.

A second option would be to buy the game in a different store like humble bundle, just make sure the game has no regional restrictions.

I especially find this ridiculous because I have given a friend in Mexico a few games despite it being over 10% higher in my region and...wasn't stopped. Huh. :DSTsmallbird:

Game devs/pubs can also exclude their games from cross region gifting.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
