I own the game on steam and own another version on Rockstar launcher. i want to play from the rockstar launcher one because thats where all my online account stuff is but when i try and hit play through rockstar launcher even with steam entirely exited it says "Play through steam" or something so it wont let me play or launch from my social account on rockstar launcher. it also tells me to switch rockstar accounts when it tries to make me use steam which is another thing i Dont Want

Not sure on this one. But if you're saying you bought two version of the game, then all you have to do is download the game with Steam, and download the game with rockstar client, so you have two places, but the issue is that when you launch from Steam, it calls out to the rockstar client, which needs you to be on the account that link to your Steam account in order to play it.

So i don't believe you can do two at the same time on the same PC.

You could try the following: Unlink your Steam account then see if it is possible to launch the game from the Rockstar launcher.

There is no way to UNLINK a steam account from a social so idk bout that but imma screw around and see if i can get around the "play on steam" thing.

Have you contacted Rockstar and explained your position?

Yeah, a lot of people have trouble whenever they try to link Rockstar and Steam accounts.

Your account linked to Steam will require you to launch through Steam. I don't know of any way around this. (Other than not linking the accounts in the first place.)

Oh wait! They let you unlink now.

You do realize that owning GTAV on Xbox does not mean you own the same game on PC. Right? Just checking.

Contacting Rockstar support is required to unlink the accounts. There's no way around that.

You're functionally logging into a specific rockstar account and tying that to you rsteam account. Similar to how uplay games work

If you tied your steam account to a diffrent rockstar account you're screwed

I know this is old but I came across this problem tonight and I had a really easy fix for it. I made another account on my windows 10. I went on the Rockstar website and downloaded the installer and installed it on a different drive. Then ran the launcher and installed the game on the same drive as the launcher. Then logged out of that windows account and back to my main and the new launcher was on the desktop. Now both are working - my steam game and my Rockstar game.
