How to send gifts to friend from a different region?
Is this possible? I am from the Philippines, my friend is in Aussy. I am trying to get him a game but "it cannot be sent due to regional price differences".

As the message says, you cannot gift games from regions where there is a significant difference in price to what the receiver would pay. You could send your friend a Steam digital gift card and they could buy the game themselves. Or you could purchase a key from an official third-party vendor, after confirming it will activate in Australia, then give them the key to redeem.

I was hoping to have an option like "buy the game at Aussy's price" or something to be able to gift. I don't like the other options such as buying a steam gift card or key. This is just sad. But anyway I really appreciate the suggestion and reply mate. Thank you!

I was hoping for that option too but apparently, such an option would be illegal in some countries.

Sorry, you can't. Gift card is the best option now.
*biblethump* Oh well, it's steam's lost.

And its a much smaller loss than the one they would face for violating price display and tax laws especially when they give you a way to do what you are claiming you want to do that doesn't have those issues.

Yeah I guess that's true. I was hoping that they could compromise though instead of the customers doing so. Only if possible of course.

They have compromised by allowing you a way to send the money for the purchase to your friend despite what people like to think compromise doesn't mean I get what I want and the other guy does all the work and eats a loss for it.

Let me be clear here since you seem to be implying that you prefer me to just go with the method available instead of still being here in the forums.

What I want is to gift a purchased game. The kind of compromise I was hoping for was a way to buy the game with the amount they're offering in that specific region (if that's the issue preventing me from doing so), not some gift card and hope the other person buys the game.

It gets to the same results, but I just think that the method is a bit annoying. It's like giving someone money to buy cake on their birthday instead of buying the cake yourself for them.

Anyway if I can't get what I want then it simply means that it's one less sold game for steam, and maybe some more if there are others out there with the same issue. That's all I'm saying.

I can say with confidence that your lack of a purchase is overshadowed by the several purchases someone else has made.

None of that changes the fact that what you are asking for isn't a compromise and is instead just asking Valve to violate laws and face the consequences of that because you are worried the other person may decide to buy something else instead of what you want them to.

What I'm asking for is definitely compromise. If it's not possible because of laws I don't know about, then I can simply stop there and not ask further. Stop randomly accusing people of asking Valve to violate laws. I came here in the forums for solutions, not some argument.

Then don't argue what is being told to you.

Because I was poked. Like what are you doing here now in this thread. I posted a question with regards to gifting, I say a comment related to that, expressing why the solution provided isn't fit for me.

Then I have this person here whom I thought was very informative at first, but suddenly started accusing me of trying to ask Valve to violate some laws just because I didn't go with the suggested solution. Then there is you, who contributed to nothing in answering my question posted in Help & Tips forums or anything related to this thread. Wonder why you're even here.
