So definite maybe.
They changed to the Episode One engine and later on something more, considerably after the box was available, so... no, you won't "negate" the need, it won't do anything for you. It'll still have to download the entire thing from Steam's servers.

But like the guys say there still will be some/a lot of downloading.
Hopefully that can make it less painful.
AFTER which the engines were changed to be more 'uniform'. This caused a major issue with a lot of mods made for one or the other of the episodes, as the engine varies significantly enough that they broke.
Play all the games now from steam store. No need to buy them (especially not twice)
