FRAPS disables my Steam screenshots

Yes, they key bindings are different. No, there is no key binding conflict with anything else. When I close down Fraps F12 works to take screenshots in Steam. When Fraps is on... F12 does nothing. But, I have to close down whatever game I'm in and restart Steam in order for F12 to work again after I close Fraps and it is such a pain and takes a long time. Please help! Steam should have its own recording ability and then Fraps wouldn't be needed.

Fraps can cause issues with the Steam overlay.

If the overlay is rendered 'dead', so are screenshots.
