About Windows 10 Fast Startup option

Hello

So back when i installed W10 i noticed that fast startup option is set by default and my PC boots a lot faster then it would.

But just wanted to ask.

Can fast startup damage or reduce the lifespan of my HDD ?

I'm using a 2TB HDD but it is about 5 years old now.

Would really like to know this because i'm kinda freaking out if this option actually damages or reduces the lifespan of my HDD or if it doesn't.

We are talking about "Fast Startup" you are talking about "Fast Boot" be carefull not to rock the boat to much.

All fastboot does it hibernate the kernel. it doesn't affect your HDD in any way.

One more thing i'm not exactly sure of. When fast startup is enabled, when i turn off the PC, does it ever actually completely shut down ?

Or does it still use some power ?

I know the PC itself turns off after about 3-4 seconds, but does it fully turn off or is it still using power ?

If it's still using power it would be useful to know since i don't want my electric bill going through the roof if the PC is still actually using power.

ahh i see and now it make sense we are talking and use total diffrent words on what is what i call that hibernation or power consumption or max full throttle typical a laptop issue

and again talking from cold boot to system is up . i think it was 9sec then i had raid and full max performance. dont even recal if this was on win7 or win10 a longtime ago.

we just use diffrent words and hibernation actual dont shutdown thats is a warm boot.

and also make sense then i dont turn off pc and use pc with cure cancer 24/7 so hibnation is not a option. lol

Yes it does, it's just using the filedump when you start the computer again.

No, "Fast Startup" and hibernation is not the same, when you use "Fast Startup" the computer is off = no powerconsumption.
