I am currently using the beta and have not come across this issue.

Try Malwarebytes (free) and scan your PC, maybe this will pick something up the AV missed, although I would not say from your description you were hacked.

It sounds more like a glitch, or bug, or too many people using the client to purchase.

Try using Steam in a browser to see if happens again.

Why does any of what you describe lead you to believe you have been hacked?

From 2013? Issues like what you describe do not persist that long without being patched.

Check for recent OS updates on the PC or programs that may have updated around the time it happened.

But .... that behavior is nothing like what you ran through in the OP. If anything, it feels like your first post was worried someone had remote access, if anything. And what ensued wouldn’t likely be the activity of another who did have such.

If you are actually concerned that there is someone else using or accessing your account:

Scan for malware. https://www.malwarebytes.com/

Deauthorize all devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage

Change your password on a secure device.

Generate new back up codes. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage

Revoke the api key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey
** If there is nothing in the API key area, that’s fine. If there IS something, remove it. Nothing should be there.**
