Updating a game raises Intel 6700k CPU 1st Core to 100% - The other 7 are between 0-20%

Hello Everyone!

Usually, now for several years already - Using Windows 7 and currently Windows 10 - I always had the problem, that when I do download or Update a game on Steam my current Intel 6700K Quad Core CPU raises its Core #1 to 100% which makes my Windows System freezing and stuttering, and unable to work on something else while it downloads. The other Cores are idling between 0-20%.

I read that it could eventually be something to do with an AVG Antivirus livescanning feature or so, but I wasn't able to find a solution to make e.g. a permission for Steam, Uplay, Battle-Net, Origin... All trigger the same problem when updating a game.

Otherwise, is it possible to split CPU usage to all Cores for downloading with e.g. Steam?

I would be glad if someone knows an answer to this, because if you google it, people only ♥♥♥♥-chat and complain about Viruses and Malware... which I am pretty sure, isn't the case.

Fellow 6700K user here! \o/

AVG is your first issue IMO, you'd have a far better experience uninstalling it and using Windows Defender.

That's what I use and barely notice any CPU load when downloading.

Well, Despite this problem is pretty annoying I never had real trouble using AVG.

But I could try to deactivate/deinstall it once and check whether it is the cause.

Although I can't Imagine that there isn't any option to simply configure its settings for Steam, etc..

Any other ideas anyone?
