Check the Steam status in your country.

More test shows that there is something wrong with my account. I can see the page without issue if I clear cache. Then I got 500 error after login

have same problem since steam sales start. clear cache dont help, .
Vlad 2019년 11월 29일 오전 2시 06분
The problem is not the cache, it's being logged in, and it's limited to the homepage.
All other pages work fine. If I go to my wishlist or to the store page for any game, it works fine and I can search for games from there, but as soon as I go directly to https://store.steampowered.com/ I get a blank page (with http error 500).
If I log out, it works, If I log back in, it doesn't.
There is probably a bug in the code that renders the homepage with personalized recommendations that makes it crash under certain circumstances. It's probably limited to a few accounts otherwise there would be more reports and they would have probably fixed it by now.
It's been this way since the start of the sale.
The main store page doesn't work in the steam client either.

I've had the same problem since the beginning of the sales on Firefox 70.0.1 and Edge (home/office) and with Steam client (home).
Steam client reinstall doesn't help, clear cache neither, no problem on Chrome, problem is more on Steam side...

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Status/500 FYI. Generally speaking, you, as the client, can't fix server side errors. Although it may be possible to work around them if it's a specific feature throwing the error. Or if it was say restricted to the main store page, but the individual game pages were fine.

There are too many people on the Store, and the servers can't handle it. You can freely use steam again when the sale ends or when ther will be less people

bc sale, just wait it out or keep refreshing

I doubt this is the problem. No matter how many times I reload the main page while logged in, it never works.
If I log out or go to any other page (for example https://store.steampowered.com/search/ ), it works fine every time.

I have the exact same problem...
'https://store.steampowered.com/' throws HTTP error 500 with very high probability. As Brockenstein said, it's server side error. We can do nothing.

However, I can open the following pages directly:
https://store.steampowered.com/explore/
https://steamcommunity.com/my/wishlist/
https://store.steampowered.com/news/
https://store.steampowered.com/stats/

Hope this helps.

500 (error code) is an obvious server-sided problem.

The store works just fine for me, in any case, on Chromium.

Same issue when logged in through browser, Steam client works fine.
