Stardew valley won't start after the new update.
Whenever I launch the game it just randomly stops after 1-2 seconds. First I restarted my PC (that usually seems to fix most steam issues). Since that didn't work I thought the files might have gotten corrupted after a new update, so I validated the files. Finally I deleted and reinstalled the game, however nothing seems to work. If anyone has suggestions on how to fix this please leave a message.
(The problem is only present in this game and I have no mods installed.)

Did you use any mods? If yes, then make sure you scrub clean all the game folders if you haven't already. Might be some residual mod files that are messing it up.

Check the error logs, I never had issues so I never looked for them, but there should be some in the game's folder.
I've the same problem. I have removed all mods and completely reinstalled the game. Restarted the PC. But it does not work anyway.

I'm getting a "missing executable" error when I try to start the game.

If any of you are on a mac you also need to delete the mirroring files that the OS uses to improve app start up times. These are not typically deleted using the uninstall game options.

Even if you are on a Win PC I recommend manually wiping out the game folders if using the uninstall game option. Just in case there are residual files lurking around.

I am not sure the game is generating crash reports due to the game closing without message, and if it is generating them I cannot seem to find them. I have also never installed mods before. Thanx for the help anyways

I've been experiencing the same issue.

It looks like there's an "ErrorLogs" folder in the "%appdata%\Stardew Valley" folder, but my crashes aren't logging anything here (the only error logged is from several months ago). However, I do get the 2 events pasted below in the Event Viewer every time I try to launch. I've tried trashing the startup preferences, repairing .NET, plugging in headphones, and uninstalling/reinstalling. No dice. I've never installed any mods.

Event 1:

I manually deleted the folders, but the problem still occurs

I MANAGED TO FIX IT, it turned out an entire map was missing from my game files. The game should contain the _CommonRedist map above the Content folder. After consulting my friend who also has Stardew Valley he sent me the files and told me how to name the maps within the _CommonRedist folder. When you have downloaded and organised everything you need to double click on the xnafx40_redist file (_CommonRedist->XNA->4.0) and 'repair' it in a launcher. This should fix the launch issue.

You have a custom run path. Change it to default.

And where I can download this files? And how do I name the files?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
I found the solution. After I noticed that I did not have a "_CommonRedist" folder, I downloaded and installed the file "Microsoft XNA framework redistibutable 4.0 Installer". After that the PC restarts and now the game starts again

I forgot to mention that this is one of the things I tried before I reinstalled. I downloaded the XNA Framework installer and ran it as a repair, and it still crashes with the same two errors I posted above.

I'm starting to think it's something isolated to my computer, since not a lot of people seem to be reporting this problem.

I finally got it fixed. There was a bad Windows update that broke it for me. As a shot in the dark, I uninstalled the Windows updates that were installed since the last time it was working. Now it launches without any problems.

I didn't think to note down which updates I removed, but I uninstalled all the updates that were installed on 11/24/19. I still have updates from 11/22 and they're not causing problems, so it was probably one that was released on/near the 24th.

Check the 4th option of https://www.stardewvalley.net/stardew-valley-troubleshooting-guide/

AFAIK its there for mod support. You can remove the launch option if you do not have SMAPI.

If you want to mod however i recommend reading this https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started

This can also be the solution, as for the _CommonRedist->XNA->4.0 thing you can find it in D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\XNA\4.0
