phone number required for shipping?
i left two fields empty, shipping address, line 2 and phone number. a 2nd line for the shipping address doesn't exist where i live, or at least i don't know what to do with it. i will not give valve my phone number, no other online store requires my phone number either.
so is steam not accepting my shipping address because of the empty phone number field?

Just ignore that as its a digital download, you would have given your phone number to Steam guard. Its just a form that seems to think you require a physical address to deliver.
Leave that blank ok :)

where does it say its for a controller?
Of course you need supply details for purchases of goods . You gave no indication it was other than a digital purchase i buy digital games on Steam all the time and it also shows that.

yeah? well no other store, for example amazon, requires my phone number, which is something i'm not willing to give to steam.

Then don't order the item if it is a required field.

What do you think Valve will do with the phone number?

Giving Valve your payment information & address is a way bigger issue if you don't trust them. It's like guarding your backdoor with tooth & claw (or a gun) while you're giving Valve the keys to your front door.

If you don't trust Valve, don't give them anything, no payment info, no address. If you do trust Valve, then giving them your phone# isn't an issue.

i have no idea. they can contact me per email if something goes wrong with my shipment. my phone number is none of valve's concern.

the difference is they have an actual use for my address, they need it to get the package to me.

So it's a principle thing?
