All games lagging with a High-End PC
Hello everyone. So since recently my PC started to lag like hell. Games that used to run smoothly started to lag like insane. Games I played are optimized by NVIDIA GeForce Expirience, and the monitors are plugged into the 1080 Ti. Specs below, I hope you guys can help me.

i7 5th Gen
GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
16 GB of RAM at 1600 Mhz
250GB SSD for my OS and GTA:V

What could I do?
Task manager shows my resources arent even fully used when playing games.

What games? Name a few.
What resolution and refresh rate are you playing at?
How are the monitors connected? DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort?
What FPS do you get in those games?

These are the games that currently give me the biggest issue stutter/lag:
- GTA:V
- Skyrim
- Mirrors Edge: Catalyst

I am playing the games on 1920x1080, with a refresh rate of 240 Hz, and those monitors are connected through DisplayPort.

Normally I'd easly get 60FPS in the games. Now I'm lucky if I reach 30FPS without stutter.

remove the gpu drivers with DDU and then reinstall them.

Check the dedicated gpu is being used as default and not the intel onboard.
Disable Geforce Experience, stop it from running as a test.
Oneway is get it to exit from the running tasks.
If recent drivers were updated roll back.

I already updated my GPU drivers to the latest versions released January 15, this did not fix the issue. I am unable to find GeForce Experience in the Task Manager.

Where to check which GPU is set as default?

I dont have the drop down menu for that in the NVIDIA Control Center.

does the game GTA V run ok since it's on the SSD?
Dutchy NL Jan 19, 2019 @ 1:49pm
No ti doesn't, I relocated it back to the 2TB WD Black HDD and the issue still comes whenever playing the game.

Might pay to do a malware scan. Also check task manager for any processes that are using an unusually high amount of resources
Dutchy NL Jan 19, 2019 @ 2:09pm
Task Manager is showing my RAM and GPU are used up to a maximum of 45% when running GTA:V. The situation remains the same after a malware scan and a virusscan.

Check your NVIDIA control panel 3d settings. Is the DSR setting on normal Or is it upscaling to a higher resolution? Go through all the global settings. Also make sure your GPU is set to be physx processor
Dutchy NL Jan 20, 2019 @ 12:16pm
DSR settings in 3D settings are currently;
DSR - Factors: 4.00x (native resolution)
DSR - Smoothness: 33%

PhsyX is set on the GTX 1080ti in the 3D Settings > configure surround, physx

Yeah, upscaling costs tons of performance. No wonder you encounter performance issues.
You're essentially playing on 4k or higher.
Dutchy NL Jan 20, 2019 @ 1:43pm
How to fix that?
