Increase font size in Steam - Tutorial
Here is my solution to increase font size, step-by-step.

1) Browse to the 'Steam\Skins' folder:

e.g. ‪C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Skins

2) Create a new folder inside the 'Skins' folder:

e.g. ‪C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Skins\IncFont

3) Create a new folder inside the 'IncFont' folder and name it 'resource':

e.g. ‪C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Skins\IncFont\resource

4) Create a new folder inside the 'resource' folder and name it 'styles':

e.g. ‪C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Skins\IncFont\resource\styles

5) Browse to the 'Steam\resource\styles' folder:

e.g. ‪C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\resource\styles

6) Copy the 2 files in the 'styles' folder:

The files are 'gameoverlay.styles' and 'steam.styles'.

7) Paste these 2 files in to the new 'styles' folder you created in step 4.

8) Edit the pasted 'steam.styles' with a text editor, Notepad will do the job, though I prefer Notepad++.

9) Search the file for all instances of 'font-size=' and increase the number by 2 (or more - see notes below):

e.g. font-size=15 will become font-size=17

10) Once all instances of 'font-size=' have been increased, save the file and exit your text editor.

11) Open Steam and select Settings.

12) In Settings select Interface.

13) In Interface change the skin to 'IncFont' and click 'OK'.

14) Steam will restart with the new font size increases.

Notes:

In step 9 you could increase the font size by more than 2, but if you increase by too large an amount there may be problems - overlapping text etc.
If a font increase of 2 points is not enough for you, repeat step 9 adding a further 2 points.
Keep repeating step 9 until you are happy with the results.
An increase of 2 was enough for me and took me about 10 minutes.
It took me longer to type this tut!

Thanks very nice! But did you know how i can modify the fontsize from the left list of games? I changed everything of fond things. Headerfonts and fonts from rightclick are much more bigger. I have also changed all things with font-weight.

What do the hearts mean? Are they a place holder or variable? And if so, what are they a variable for?

they are a result of recent filtering by valve to combat skin selling sites. you can extrapolate what they are from step 1.

No. I can't extrapolate anything. I don't know what you are talking about.

well if I typed it out it would end up being filtered to the hearts as well. watch how each step adds a new named folder. just type them out on your own and you can figure out what the hearts stand for.

It sounds like they are unimportant, and I can just name the folder anything that I want. But I followed all of the rest of the steps and nothing is showing up in my skins interface selection after I restart.

I can't believe the Steam app doesn't just have a font size setting. This is ridiculously complicated for what should be a simple option to select in settings.

I got this to work. But this doesn't fix the font size for everything. It did work for the menu in the bar at the top and some of the pop up windows. I set every font-size to be over 20 in the steam.styles file, but the fonts in this forum, for example, are still really tiny and so are many other areas of the app.

Yes, it look likes some font sizes are configured on an other place.

Thank you. It was so helpful. I like it

Why don't the developers allow us to change the font size in the application? What do they do all day? With my 4k screen I have to put my head closer to be able to read, they are ridiculous.

Only 14 steps to change the font? We're so advanced. One day, perhaps my great great grandchildren will be able to click one or two buttons to change their font like on every other program in existence.

I tried this just now, IncFont does not show up in the styles list. and i had no Skins folder to start off with either.

EDIT: it worked, i double checked my steps, i had missed the last folder "styles".

What is the right tag for only changing the font size of the library listing the games on the left?

Agree. So simple and steam still can do that option in settings.
