"steamappeal" is also funny but not a Valve email.
Gmail
Think about that for maybe more than 0.1 seconds to realize that's fake
Okay if you almost fell for that obvious scam like that let me tell you about other types of scam.
For instance, ANYONE claiming to be from Valve or Steam and wants your account details or your items is a scammer. Valve would never ask for such things.
There are no "Item Checkers" at Valve. It's scammers pretending to sound important.
There are no Moderators who will issue a pending ban. Bans are either applied or not applied.
And there are tons of guides out there like...

Sticky threads don't work.
These three are missed very often:

The best ones were the "no trading here" threads and the no longer stickied "posting for the badge no longer exists."
Even if this email "came" from the real whatever address, or maybe even from your address (no joke),
or if you get an email with your real name and it "comes" from a real company address,
do NOT trust emails more than a postcard that someone gives you. With words on it.
Legit "postcards" concerns can be handled in other ways.
Bad "postcards" make sure to tell you exactly "to what dark corner you have to go, at midnight..... alone".
