My account is locked for a chargeback
A dispute was placed regarding $5 I added to my wallet because a family member of mine was unaware I had used my card. I bought a game that costs $9.99 and it was removed, but I already had $9 in my wallet, so I lost that money in the process. I was hoping I could either get the money I already had back or just pay an extra $5 and get the game back. Is there any way I can contact Steam quicker than just the Steam Support message?

Reverse the charge back

call your banks card department, have them reverse the chargeback, then ticket Steam support telling them it has been reversed.. otherwise your account will be perma "locked"

Do what everyone said, reverse the charge back, if you mess around, the longer it will take to fix your problem, you want to fix it ASAP, and have it reverse, then contact support. Once it's resolved, you have everything back the way it should be, and next time I suggest you don't let your family member manage your card, at all, as they shouldn't be doing that.

-edit-
Misread, and though it was his parents credit card he used.

They actually don't perma lock his account. It gets locked for several months, and the credit card that did the chargeback can no longer be used on Steam.

When locked, you can still play all your games you have previously purchased/activated. But you cannot buy any games nor activate any games for several months.

If it's your card, what's the family memember's deal with it? My point is, your situation is rather odd.

Your half right there is a temporary lock at first but if you don't rverse the chargeback before the deadline of that lock ending then it becomes permament.

Its why we see regular threads of "lock time passed but I'm still locked"

The account is locked for 3 months and in that time the user is expected to reverse the chargeback. If this isn't done or no substantial effort has been made to rectify the situation; the restriction becomes permanent.

You are right about the payment method being blacklisted, but if the chargeback isn't reversed by the deadline the lock becomes permanent.. the time isn't until the lock is removed, it's till the lock can no longer be reversed

There have been dozens of threads on that because people had the same misconceptions as you

And since then, there have been dozens of threads (including screenshots) that the lock expires after 4 weeks. Permanently locking accounts on a first offense/mistake got bad for business.

I suppose, its a case of partial reading. The message goes something like "Account will be restricted for 9 weeks. If you don't sort it out until then, the restriction will become permanent". If someone's dumb enough to stop mid-message, they'll get the wrong impression.
Im using the term "dumb" on purpose. "Hey, this is a critical error message, let's not read it fully and stop when I get what sounds like I don't have to care, the rest won't be important" doesn't seem possible by thinking human standards.

But in all recent cases where people posted the end date, it was only 4 weeks. They changed how they deal with this.
