Steam Community / Activity won't work
I've had this for days now, at first I thought it was something with steam, but it's clearly on my end. Friend told me he can access his fine. I tried clearing cache, restarting comp, checking anti-virus, no luck. I can access everything else on steam, just not when I hover over my name and click on "Activity", which then says "Steam/home". I can access my profile and everything on it, also other friends profiles. Anybody know a fix around this?

I have the exact same problem. Maybe it is on steam's end.
In addition to that, often times I cannot access the artworks of other users.

I just tried accessing a friends artwork, was black page for a short bit then it appeared. It could be. I've also had problems with Marvel.com's pages. I can access their main page, but if I go under Marvel Unlimited, it shows me a blank white page, much like Steam Activity's black blank page, not loading or anything. Even more so, I got blocked on my iphone Marvel unlimited app. Why I went to their homepage with no luck. I'm wondering if it's somekind of American net connection problem or something. I also tried resetting router, no luck.

weird, the only thing that has done something for me, but not fixing the problem was deleting the browser cacher under steam settings.
When I go to activity or notifications again after that it shows me a loading screen which then leads to some error connecting to the steam networks.
I have no idea what else to do and it also just started some two or three days ago.

That is so weird, i did try the cache thing and didnt fix it for me. Mine started three or so days ago as well. Back then i thought it was just the servers being down or something for a brief day.

In this very moment I tried accessing the activity feed again.
Rather long loading time but now it works again, I have no idea what's the issue.
I didn't shutdown my PC or exit steam since I commented on this discussion.
Are you still having that loading sign in the upper right leading to a black screen?

Still same for me, but I can now access the Marvel Unlimited section.

This has to be a problem on steam's end, I believe.
When I try to open the activity on a browser or my phone I have the same issue.
I guess it's back to waiting and hoping that this gets solved over time...

I'm starting to believe it's on steams end too. Like you said, we just have to wait and hope.
I can access Marvel Unlimited's app again, which means there was some kind of problem with their site and app, and they fixed it some hours later.

The weird thing is that in my case...

The screen was black
Then went back to normal
Then Back to Black
Then again back to Normal

and then back to black, which is how it's been since

It's very odd, my guess is somethings wrong with steam on their end or they have somekind of problem/issue with our connections for some odd reason.

Guys, I have the same problem and it actually started even before the sale! I got blank black screen in the client or I get HTTP ERROR 500 when I try to open my news feed in a browser...

Googling HTTP ERROR 500 I came across a similar problem that other Steam users had, and it made me think that our issue might be caused by a very large amount of news accumulated over the long time due to being a member of too many Steam groups, especially the ones that spam a lot, daily... So, my question is do you all had problems with scrolling through your over-encumbered activity feeds just to get to the previous days?

P.S.
I joined to 503 groups and I remember that last time when I needed to find something particular in my activity feed, it was pretty bothersome to scroll all the way down, because of too much garbage from all these groups I joined... It would be cool if Steam allowed to hide news from particular groups just to avoid of transforming of my activity feed into a garbage dump. =/

Anyway, if any of you find a solution for this issue, please tell us how you were able to fix that?!
