Get past the game in your queue.
Change your preferences back.
There's really no reason to go through the manual pain.
Go to "Store" (main page of steam)
Top right searchbox type
"X-Morph: Defense"
Press enter or the magnifing glass on the right
A list appears with the base game some dlc and the important part, THE DEMO (think second from bottom)
If you look at the thumbnail picture on the left side of the list of the base game demo there is a tiny downward double arrow on it. (it might only appears if you hover youre mouse over the picture)
Carefully click on it and 3 option appear.
-Preferences
-Ignore
-Whislist
Obviously you click ignore
(i assume the base game already on ignore at this point and only DLCs that are not on ignore)
It WILL actually be ignored this time and never stop youre qeuee ever again.
(thanks to random sources I found over maybe the years lol while trying to get rid of this ♥♥♥♥,
Some of the sources mentioned localization re-routes, mentioned the source code referes to the demo, but the main game is showned on steam, which means you cannot ignore the demo and cause the queue to stop due to this error, and this page ofcourse that helped me find the preferences extended option screen which had a hiden information in a small i circle icon at the end of a textbox that told that you can chose ignore trough that small icon on a game picture.)
Thanks, this fixed it.
Apparently the demo was removed or something, so I'm guessing that's why it was broken for me. :/
Most other posts I've read, on the issue of demos clogging up your discovery queue, suggest you either download and uninstall the demo, or cancel on confirmation. It just so happened, however, that the first time I encountered this problem, I already owned the game for which the demo was intended, leaving me no such option.
Fearing the worst, having read of countless others dealing with a stuck queue for years, I stumbled upon this post. Thankfully, I were immediately able to sort the problem, by using csatrad's workaround, where you search for the original game title in the store browser, and then, in the results, hover/roll over the listed demo with your mouse cursor and select the option to ignore it, in the drop-down menu that appears (double-arrow button).
Much obliged.
