adaptive sync
turns vsync on if a complete frame is ready
and vsync off if a partial frame are ready
gsync
monitor only updates when a frame is ready
or maxes fps at monitors refresh rate
vsync
displays the latest complete frame
if a new frame is not ready, it will repeat the last complete frame
when next frame is complete it to wait mode before working until the last is being sent to the display
