Microphone keeps muting in steam only

hey, Im not sure whats causing this but if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear it. I have a corsair void pro usb headset/ microphone. When Im in steam voice chat it keeps randomly muting my microphone. When Im using discord or teamspeak this does not happen. It only happens in steam voice chat.

Anyone have any idea whats causing this?

Is it muted or does it just not register sound? Push-to-talk or voice-activated?
I've never used the built-in voicechat but I'm sure it's a slider or checkbox that needs to be fiddled with.

The actual voice chat button for "mute microphone" keeps going mute without me pressing it. I do not have push to talk selected, I have not used that ever, for years voice chat has been fine and the other day it started going randomly muted.

I had this same issue but found the default steam hotkey for muting is set to alt. Change this in the settings in your friends list.

Solved: go to the chat or friend list Settings > Voice > Voice Transmission Type
if you have selected the Open Microphone then the hot key that has been assigned is a mute toggle key.
so if you use open mic just set a key you are unlikely to press while playing.

Yeah except for the part where that doesnt solve it at all.

Same problem. Steam keeps ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ muting my mic for no reason and NO I do not have a hotkey set up for mute. Bonus points: If I do assign a hotkey, pressing it to unmute does nothing.

There is a reason the vast majority of players use *gag* discord for voice chat and it is not because Steam is fantastic.
