Anyone know how to tell if a Valve steam account is legit?
Right now I'm dealing with some guy on my friends list saying he accidentally reported me for duped items in TF2 and now the suppossed guy who works for valve is showing me some (honestly pretty fake looking) screenshots of my account and some ban buttons. I'm pretty sure it's a scam attempt because as soon as I called both of them out on it they stopped responding. Still though it wouldn't hurt to know. I even checked the Valve steam group and I didn't see him on there so I don't know if that counts for anything.

Also sorry if this is in the wrong discussion I don't use these forums much if at all.

Scam.

Report all users, block and move on.

Valve employees will never be a part of any trade you make.

Yeah this guy just put VALVE in his user name. I've already blocked him and reported them both. All should be good now. I could just put his name here, but I've read that's against the rules or something, so I don't know. I probably wont.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

It would never link back to an employee account in a trade. NEVER.

Thank you. This cleared up a lot.

A third user is never needed in a trade between 2 users.

middleman trading is actually a fairly common process when doing trades involving real money... users like:

https://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198088748682

outside of those 5, I don't think I'd trust anyone for middleman trading.

And none of that has nothing to do with Steam at all since it involves real money. Something that is not a part of the Recommended Trading Practices on Steam and is not supported by Valve at all.

This actually happened to me today as well. Exactly the same story as you mentioned. I reported both accounts fast.

They have a badge, they also will not discuss account actions through chat/discord any of that. Any discussion or alerts related to your account will be initiated through an email to your accounts associated email address.

I wish I had a friend at valve so I could ban these losers immediately.
