Why not searching? Open the Steam folder, input the file name in the search field and let Explorer do its thing.

Stop with the multiposting. :steamfacepalm:

It's located under Steam\config\

You'd know if you used the Search on the top right of the folder.

Because less work you put yourself into figuring things out, less likely you're to learn anything from it.

You'd think it makes sense that a local configuration file goes under.. the configuration folder.

under user data ther are lots of numbered folders?? can i all delete them and trus the steam app to build a fresh data user map? what kind of data is stored here i read: The second and more serious issue is that once a config file is corrupted, the only indication of this in the UI is that preferences are reset to defaults and any attempts to make changes are silently ignored. At minimum, I'd expect some kind of notification that my config is broken and some hint about how to fix it. Even if I know how to find the relevant entries in my system logs (which most people probably don't), they contain no information about which file is corrupt.

I couldn't even log into my account anymore because of this file, steam would just crash after I entered my password. It was 778MB big, filled with seemingly everything from the namehistory of all my friends over copys of copys of copys of settings to random Numbers. Also launch options of games are saved there
I recently had problems in cs go, just competitive mode, aswell, had freezes for about 2-3 sec like every 45 sec or so. I'm just testing if those are gone too, they should because I just had those freezes on the account with that localconfig.vdf being corrupted.

so what was stored in that 778 mb?
Tev Nov 30, 2018 @ 1:47am
The numbered folders are based on your SteamID3. The userdata folder mostly consists of your local screenshot files (under 760\<appdata>), game saves, and some user specific configuration files.

In your context, you don't have to touch that folder.

Take basic advice and start editing your posts instead of posting consecutively, that's just annoying.

I don't know what 778 MB you're talking about. If that's the Euro Truck Simulator 2's update file, I wouldn't know, I don't have that game installed.

Free up space and do the update.
