New folder called "BINARIES"

I just quit a game, and at the bottom of my Steam window, I saw that something had just been downloaded. Since I had no idea what it could be, I looked in my steamapps file and saw a new file called "BINARIES". There's nothing in it, and it doesn't seem to be part of any game. Any idea what it could be? Is it safe to delete?

maybe used by the game for compiling something for each pc?
Delete it if it shows back up i guess its needed
