How do I purchase a game as a gift that I already own?

I wanna buy cs 1.6 for a friend while it's still on sale, but when i choose to buy it as a gift it leads me to a page "choose a friend to recieve a gift". (i dont want to send him the gift imidiatelly since he's not active atm, i wanna surprise him and see his reaction)

I already own cs 1.6 so I cant buy it as a gift and keep it in my library and send it later.
what do i do now? is there a way to purchase the game as a gift AND keep it in my library so i can send it later?

You can schedule the gift to a later date. It will be held back, and your friend will not be informed before the time you choose. You need to follow the option to send it to him first though.

Keeping gifts in your inventory is in most cases no longer possible.

There's a button that say " schedule delivery " can't miss it.

Add game to cart.
Click on gift game green button.
Below the list of friends there's a button "schedule delivery" click on it.

Keeping gifts inventory has been removed for a few years, it's not coming back anytime soon, the reason for it is to fight agasint cheaters, and people trying to resell the games.
