error code 137

Steam app opens and can play games, but if I try go to steam workshop or open another window in steam, like the store or any settings the window is blank with "error code 137" at top. So I can't buy anything or download anything.

I have a quick solution, if anyone gets here from google-ing the error code and landing here:
Try this (worked for me):
open up the command prompt (press win-key and then type cmd, hit enter)
type in "ipconfig /flushdns" without the quotes, hit enter
now it should work

I had this issue and it was caused by Comodo HIPS (CIS ver 10). I've deleted the old rules for steam.exe and now it"s ok.

People having this error may look at Steam\logs\cef_log.txt and connection_log.txt to have more infos about this issue.

Thanks for the info, but nothing worked for me so I had to uninstall and clear steam from
registry and reinstall. Everything works now.
