Can I reinstall the FSX bought from Steam?
I have a problem with addon scenery, can't get it to work properly. I want to uninstall the game and then do the new installation. How is it done?
Please help! :-)

Go to library, right click on game, properties, local files and try verify integrity first. IF that fails then right click, at the bottom it says uninstall.
Thanks, this doesn't work, I have tried reinstalling several times. Now the game doesn' work at all and when I install it installs with all my preferences and errors. :-(
I am talking to Steam support.

Steam Support can not help with issues regarding running third party games:

Well, I bought it from Steam.
The point is - I cannot reinstall the game from the seller, because in Steam's library it sits with all the erros.

So, by your logic you would go to Walmart to ask them how to run a game you've bought from them?

How about you tell us something about the errors, like the message they contain.
I would definitely go to the seller as long as they keep my game in thier store :-) As is the case here - if I had bought a box edition I wouldn't have a problem doing a clean installation.

Just an hour ago I found the solution on Dovetail's website. I think it's weird that Steam didn't give me this information, though they tried hard to be helpful, wrote three times with instructions but useless ones...

This is what works:

How do I reinstall Microsoft Flight Simulator
X: Steam Edition?
Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition has files and folders located in numerous locations
on your computer system. Please note: You will need to ensure you have the option to show
hidden folders enabled.
To perform a clean install you need to remove the following content and folders:
• [drive]:\Program Data\Microsoft\FSX
• [drive]:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX
• [drive]:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX
• In your Steam client, right click on the game and select Delete Local Content. A pop-up
message should appear confirming that you want to proceed. Select Delete.
• Once done go to [drive]:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX. Once here
delete all of the content inside this folder and then the folder itself.
• Delete the “Microsoft Flight Simulator X Files” folder in “My Documents”, which can be found
at [drive]:\Users\[user name]\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files. Again delete all of the content
inside this folder followed by the folder itself.
Once you have deleted all of the above you can perform a clean install of Microsoft Flight
Simulator X: Steam Edition by selecting 'install' from the Steam client whilst the game is selected.
Note: this will also delete any 3rd party add-ons you have installed on 'Microsoft Flight Simulator
X: Steam Edition'.

Support for each game is the responsibility of each developer

Why should they? Steam is selling thousands of games, they are a store. They are not developing all those games, they are not even publishing those games.
They are selling and delivering those games, which is what they do.
Are you asking Amazon as well to patch your games? That's ridiculous.

I don't find that at all weird. I wouldn't expect Steam support to know every idiosyncrasy of the over 10,000 games they sell.

What I do find weird is that you never asked this question on the FSX forum(s) here on Steam.

... if I had bought a box edition I wouldn't have a problem doing a clean installation.
Maybe. Only maybe. It's also quite possible that you would have ended up asking this somewhere else to get the (slightly different) instructions for doing a clean install of the disc version.
