Steam Gift Cards not counting towards "Restricted Client"
I just bought a Steam Gift card which I used on this account, 5$ respectively, but the "you need to spend 5$ to unlimit your account" indicator hasn't changed? Basically I just wasted 5 dollars on the store and nothing's changed?

1. So in what currency?

2. It must be $5 USD, or more. Example, if you live in AU, you need to pay $7 AUD, because of the currency difference to be equivalent to $5 USD.

3. Now answer very carefully, don't need to rush, look at the pages which one did you use.

A. https://store.steampowered.com/digitalgiftcards/selectgiftcard <--- Did you gift yourself the funds.

B. https://store.steampowered.com/steamaccount/addfunds <--- Did you add the funds to the account.

Yes they're both different.

I think he meant physical gift card. As there's only $20, $50, and $100.

What does your current spend say?

You will need to spend at least $5.00 USD within the Steam store.

Some examples of purchases that grant access to these features are:

Adding the equivalent of $5 USD or more to your Steam Wallet
Purchasing game(s) that are equal to $5 USD or more from the Steam store
***Adding a Steam Wallet card that is equal to $5 USD or more to your Steam account***
Purchasing a Steam gift that is equal to $5 USD or more from the Steam store (Receiving a Steam gift or digital gift card from a friend doesn't count)
I got gifted 5 EURO, used them all accordingly, leaving me with 0 balance and still, no progress

Any money "gifted" to an account will NOT count towards the total.

It clearly states that gifts don't count https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/1743358239830642301/?tscn=1548272877#c1743358239830782006

Read what you said, you got gifted.

Now please read carefully.

Being gifted does not count towards your $5.

You have to add $5 to your account yourself, either one of these options.

A. Using credit card.

B. Bank transfer such as Paypal.

C. Steam wallet card, you can get from your local game shop, or any place that sells Steam wallet cards.

Yes, if you added $5 to your account, and spent it sending a gift to someone then it count.

Yes if you gift $5 to someone, as you can only do extenal payment via your account such as credit card, or bank transfer.

What doesn't count is you accepting gifted games, or funds from others.
