Steam download speeds slow
According to speed test I get anywhere from 80-100 mbps average but on steam I only get 3MB/s I have tried changing my download server clearing the download cache removing the limit but nothing seems to work I see to peak at about 3.5 MB/s and it never goes over that any help is welcome I just want to be able to install games faster cheers :)

There's a difference between Mb and MB.

Eight (8) megabits = 1 megabyte (8 Mb = 1 MB)

By default, Steam displays your DL rate in Bytes per second.

The speed test that you've shown reported the rate in bits per second.

Yes I know still if you calculate you should be anywhere from 10-12MB/s which is at minimum 7 less MB/s
Steam can nuke your connection.

Gigabit connections can easily become saturated.

Your ISP could be throttling your connection.

What DL rate do you get in other places?

Please state the correct units this time.

Please state the correct units this time. I stated the correct units in my original post I used mbps MB/s respectively you just can't read and to answer your question in downloads on google and on sites like mega I see anywhere from about 8-12 MB/s download speed

I was posting on a thread earlier concerning the discrepancy between Mb & MB.

The other user didn't clearly make that discernment, so i apologize for believing that they were you.

As per the 8 - 12 MB/s, that's in par with the speed tests.

Your DL rate on Steam is a bit lower.

There are many things that can screw up your downloads (on Steam).

1) AV software.

2) Malware and other crapware.

3) Your router being unable being unable to handle how Steam downloads; I.e - multiple threads.

4) You are CPU limited as steam tries to decompress and patch files.

5) You are disk IO limited as steam uses tons of IO to patch files or decompress the compressed downloads.

You can check 4 and 5 by looking at your performance monitor and seeing what your disk and CPU performance is.

Likely you will see they are heavily utilized resulting in that being the cap at which you can download files.
