Can't make my account appear online?
So I've been having this problem for a few days now, and I didn't really care until I tried to play a game with my friend.
My account isn't in offline more, but it's set to offline, like how you can change your account to appear.
I can't change it to invisible, or busy, or online at all, when I go to click it it just does literally nothing at all.
I've tried reinstalling several times.
I've tried doing all sorts of things with the settings, disabling offline mode, changing my server destination.
I've turned off all of my firewalls and anti-viruses.
I've tried uninstalling, rebooting and then reinstalling.
I've tried turning the offline mode on then off using Regedit.

Frankly, I'm getting desperate, and just want to know if anyone else has had this problem, or knows how to fix it.

Thanks in advance.

Try this from the Steam client

Steam>Settings>Web Browser>Delete web browser cache & Delete all browser cookies

I also have this problem. I tried what you said but it didn"t change anything.

The fact is that my friend list won't stop loading while I also appear offline on my app. However, I managed to play with friends who saw me online and were able to invite me ingame.

I read in another thread that the guy had to do it five times before it worked

Sorry for the delay. I tried it a couple times and it did nothing... Getting really ticked here, because it never did this before.

No problem. During theses days I've been reading other similar threads, some people solved it by opting into the Steam beta client; or opting out if you already have it enabled

I had actually tried enabling the beta, and all it did was I guess corrupt my client, because I had to completely reinstall for it to even launch again.

hey I got the same problem has anyone been able to fix it?

I have the same problem too. Please tell me if you came across a solution!
I am in contact with steam support but they stick to default phrases and overread half of my messages :(

I am wondering if the browser/shop works for you because mine does not!

I tried (without success):
- Steam Client full reinstall
- Steam-Browsercache/-cookies removed
- Steam Beta (On/Off/On/Off/..)
- Startparameters "-nochatui", "-nofriendsui", "-no-cef-sandbox"
- Steamguard disabled
- %appdata%/Local/Steam/htmlcache folder emptied
- D:/Steam/appcache/httpcache folder emptied
- Manual start of the "steamwebhelper" process before and after the client start

necro af, ask in a new thread

Can you provide any information about what thread you mean? thX

btw I presume in my case this could be caused by malware infection. Just for the record, in case someone having the same problem stumbles upon this thread.

I have 2 drives in my computer a ssd and a hdd, I moved steam from the one disk to the other and it fixed the problem. This is the only solution I could find.

I tried with other accounts and on apps with other devices, they're all offline. guess I'll just wait it out and/or reinstall steam. I tried reinstalling the steam app on my android and it went back online, but in my PC, I'm still offline. stuck on offline mode. I'll probs make purchases on my andrpod steam and wait out the PC problem to be naturally. Thanks a million for the tips tho.
