How to change font size in Steam application (Linux and Windows)
The font in the Steam application under Windows and Linux are too small on my 1440p screen. I didn't find any setting for the font. Is there a possibility to change it? Otherwise use my browser for it. Usually it works with browser, as I can set it to everything I want. This lets look the official Steam application very crappy. Why can't I set the font (easily in the settings)?! I can barely read anything. :senpai:

If you navigate to your Steam folder (normally under Program Files) and navigate from there into the resource and styles folders. In there you should find two files, steam.styles and gameoverlay.styles. If you open those files using notepad or a program like Notepad++ (Makes your life easier) you should be able to search for "font-size" and be able to change the font size of different elements.

Remember that if steam updates those settings will most likely be overwritten, so if you would like you could make a skin to make it easier for you. But that's just my opinion and a question for another day.

Thank you for the suggestion. Changing the files each time the application updates is a no go to me, even with a script. I would need to do this all the time on two different installations (Linux and Windows). And the scaling options of the operationg systems aren't good and also will change ALL applications, so this is no option too, if someone asks.

The solution with a skin is probably my best option. But I don't have an experience for it and the skins I see in the web are changing a lot more.

Whats really frustrating is, the application uses a web browser in its core and if I right click and copy the site url of any page within the Steam application, i can add this url into my web browser (Firefox) and have the perfect experience.

Do have anyone a skin suggestion for this?

Not currently as most skins don't work that well with the update.

Thats sad. I don't know why such an important aspect isn't solved. To me, the Steam application is almost unusable because of this. :steamfacepalm:

Im so frustrated by this. that its SITLL an issue in linux. I have poor eyesite and cannot see my games now. so dumb

This is not just a Linux issue, it is an issue with the Steam Client in general on all platforms. A workaround is to use the website, but that off course is only for the shop. You may want to enable Big Picture mode in Steam client itself.

On Windows, steam follows your desktop DPI settings (no idea if it does or does not on Linux). That is, set your desktop DPI higher->bigger Steam fonts.

I don't want change my desktop DPI, I only want change the Steam client font size. That is all.
