Can't Join Friends Game (mac)

after the new friends-window update I dont have the option to "join game" on any of my friends.
We were trying to play Civ V, and everyone else (windows users) could shift/tab, friends, right click, join-game. However, when i do so, no "Join game" button appears

Edit: I found a way to join friends games but it is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I have to got to there profile page and then click join game. Thanks to the wonderful new overlay, I, and apparently some others, can no longer do so on the friends list overlay, and now have to go to friends profiles to join their game
