PS4 Controller Double Connected to Steam Link (Double Inputs)
https://i.imgur.com/l4D7gZS.png

For some reason, big picture mode recognizes my PS4 controller as two devices and accepts every input twice. I have no option to disconnect either cloned controller, and so far messing around with every option available in Steam doesn't seem to do anything.

The controller only shows once in bluetooth settings in the main Steam Link UI.

The programmers of the Steam Link OS should be fired! Not only do they add this bug without any solution for days. There is still a problem showing the PS4 buttons on games which support PS4 controller (for example Rocket League, Mad Max) in Big Picture mode. When you start the games on PC itself it works. But through Steam Link the games show up the xBox controller buttons.

Thats real poor development!

The problem is not with the steam link, which is evidenced by the fact that double controllers and double controller inputs don't happen while using the steam link menus. It's a flaw with steam itself.

I'm not surprised something like this could happen, if you've developed anything for any company, bugs come up, even serious ones that completely inhibit a subset of your users from using your product. The really surprising thing here is that this bug would be easily controlled/mitigated by a delete controller button in the steam link menu. That combined with the fact that there still isn't a fix for this leaves me disappointed in steam.

Yes I use PS4 controllers on steam, because the steam controller is so meh for serious gaming. I am an advocate for pcgaming in general, and it really hurts my cause when things like this happen, as my friends/family were looking to enjoy a fun couch game together when I first ran into this issue. It really sets my cause back when things like this happen.

"Sorry, kids. Steam had an update. It broke our ability to play games together. We have to sacrifice something to Valve. Go find something under your beds."

Yep same issue here. My ps4 controller via steam link was detected double one as my account and one as guest. I am not using any ds4 software on my host pc.

I was able to work around it with a similar solution posted earlier:

Go to Settings and Base Configurations in the Controllers section
Select Big Picture
Press the Start button to change controllers
Select the bottom button (something about groupings)
Select the PS4 controller “switch to unique” button
Set all buttons, sticks, and triggers to None and save (use your mouse for this)
Set all buttons, sticks, and triggers back to the settings you just cleared and save

This got rid of the double input issue for me. The duplicate controller is still listed, but doesn’t affect anything anymore.

Steam Link provides good experience when it comes to home streaming through ethernet, but steam and steam link it self has enormous number of issues that are still not fixed. This double input issue is not for the first time, its the third case on my memory, previously it could be fixed with switchihg on stable version of steam in the settings, now it does not. For example, Far Cry 5 dpad not working and left trigger aims only - staem issue, GTA 5 R3 button is not working - steam issue, Wolfenstein 2 black screen in the main menu, game does not work at all - Steam Link issue. Sometime DS4 powers on Steam Link with a third try, same with ds4 recconection when the steam link is up, and this list is far from complete. As for the dualshock button prompts, Steam does not have DS4 NATIVE support as it was advertised almost everywhere, it emulates xbox driver for the ds4, which is quite good but has nothing to do with native compatibility. DS4 works natively only when connected with usb directly to your pc or with the use of Sony's "Dualshock 4 USB Wireless Adaptor" standard bluetooth dongle is not an option, also it does not work properly with VirtualHere. I spent months with this kind of research and my conclusion is - valve can do a lot better then this. Where is Steam Link next generation with new features and addition of the second LAN port with nic teaming for 4k streaming as it is implemented in NAS devices? They still have this not fitting ds4 buttons icons in the Big Picture mode. The idea of the steam and steam link was great, with all these new functions, fulfillment - very unsatisfied. They probably need more competitors.

It's quite sad this isn't resolved yet.

I am having the same issue after updating Steam the other day. If i use my ps4 controller on my pc, it operates correctly. However, when i open up steam via the link. It wants to recognize my controller as a guest and i get the controller recognized twice and the double inputs. It is infuriating. I hope a fix is in the works.
