Overpriced Games Steam to blame
So i got a hold of ubisoft today and i asked them why they charge $80 cad for Assassin's creed origins on steam and they told me that steam has the rights to set their price. Why is steam overcharging the crap out of games? i alrdy beat it on ps4 and its $30 cad for a new copy of it on ps4 at ebgames. Can someone explain why they are scamming us?

the game developers/publishers set the prices on steam. steam only takes a cut of the price.
either you misunderstood what the rep said, didnt talk to an actual rep, or the rep was clueless.

What Ubisoft support told you is not true, the publisher set the price.

If it's cheaper at store.ubi.com why not get it there?

Hello PoppyChimp,

Thank you for contacting Ubisoft Customer Support.

I sincerely apologize about the inconvenience, but Sony, Steam and Ubisoft have their own processes, and their own prices. We do not price-match.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We greatly appreciate the passion you have for our games.
I will be forwarding this up to the proper individuals for review.

Best regards,
Catherine

Sorry i just can't get over a 30$ game on ps4 that runs great i played it and beat it is 50$ more on pc for what reason....

Can't say anything about Microsoft and Sony, but with Steam it's entirely the developer/publisher who sets the price. Valve/Steam just gives recommendations, nothing more.

Looks like Ubisoft have mugged you off or their support staff don't even know how the company works.

Publishers/developers set the prices on Steam and Valve take a 30% cut for every store transaction made. If the game is too much; blame Ubisoft. Also why the ♥♥♥♥ would you pay $80 when the game is relentlessly on sale here or through other stores?

Buy it from Ubisoft then.

Im not gonna pay 80 for it and steam seems to have a sale 4 times a year so i have to wait till october i guess

57% off here https://www.greenmangaming.com/games/assassins-creed-origins/ but you wont receive a Steam key - it goes straight onto uPlay.

It's 59.99 US dollars on Ubi's store which is 77.97 CAD.

You asked if they have price matching. They said no.

Nowhere in that support answer does it say Steam or anyone but them sets the prices for their games.
