CSGO and other Steam games randomly minimizing
TL;DR
Basically read the title, it's been happening for a week, yesterday I reinstalled steam and the problem got worse. Aside from that I have tried
setting -lockdown and -fullscreen on launch options,
turning notifications off,
clearing download cache,
repairing steam folders,
went over my startup options and turned off everything unnecessary

and the problem still continues. Any ideas what could be causing this or what else I should try?

Note: this only happens with Steam games, as in when I play hearthstone or other non-steam games then my experience isn't disturbed by this.

Now the whole story

I am by no means a tech person so getting some light shed on this would be very helpful. I've looked through all the guides i've seen on this topic (apart from the ones telling me to destroy my pc or mess with windows) and tried all of the reasonable things but the problem does not go away.

So.. the things I have tried to fix this:
setting -lockdown and -fullscreen on launch options,
turning notifications off,
clearing download cache,
repairing steam folders,
checked my task manager for unnecessary programs, and did the alt + tab thingy to see if anything else was running,
went over my startup options and turned off everything unnecessary,
reinstalled Steam along with all the games (the problem seems to be worse after this, the loading time back in the game is longer and it happens more frequently; and yes I did set -lockdown back as well as -fullscreen in launch options)

Since the issue remains I'd like to know what is likely to cause this
Could it be that my pc is getting old?
Could it be a broken hard drive and should I move my steam stuff to another one (I used to have them on 2 drives but when I reinstalled I moved them to the one where there's no Windows so I could download more games without running out of space)
Is it possible that the problem isn't on my end?
Do I really need to mess with windows now?!

I do hope some bright people in this community would be able to help me, and any help will be appreciated.

EDIT: updated my drivers and the problem did not go away.

EDIT: I unplugged my controller and the issue appears to be gone.

EDIT: The problem has returned pls help :(

Try to set your bnet games to fullsceen mode instead of borderless windowed and see if problem continues

I noticed my game tabs out when I have discord in the background. It has messed up my plays in a few R6S rounds. Setting discord to below normal priority, solved it for me most of the times. Occasional tab out though, still.

Anyways I don't think this is related to steam unless it is about steam overlay. It is just annoying to not be able to play at borderless fullscreen when you have 2 or more monitors.

EDIT: Btw, a few similiar threads already exist on uncle google's library, I looked it up before and it is more of a W10 prob, how it handles software priority or something else.

Good that you fixed it to some extent. I don't usually have discord open but when I do it doesn't make a big differnce.
If its not related to steam then how come does it only affect steam games?
should I downgrade my windows to fix it?

I only got 1 monitor though, and I play on fullscreen.
I also have set some option to television for extra brightness, could that be causing it? that applies to csgo only

Not sure if downgrading windows will fix anything. Do you have a controller connected? A few games of mine also tabs out when they try to detect a controller constantly while I use my keyboard/mouse.

Otherwise I am out of ideas, sorry.

unplugging my controller has been effective for these 30 minutes that I've been playing. I hope it is a fix, thank you for the advice :)
