Download Queue Management
Is there a way to stop steam scheduling updates? For example, a game gets an update but it says it will download it at 4:22am. Can I set it so it downloads as soon as the update is made available as opposed to waiting until the scheduled time?

Also, is there a way to add those scheduled updates to the current queue without bumping it to the top of the queue and replacing the currently active download? Can't I add it to the bottom of the current queue so I don't have to mess around with moving all the other pending downloads?

I'm sick of wanting to go play a game with my friends only to find out that there's a 10gb update scheduled for 4 hours from now, that could've been auto downloaded earlier in the day and saved myself waiting hours to play it now.

Not really, no.

Manually start them.

That involves constantly checking the download tab of Steam throughout the day and micromanaging updates. Not really something I'm prepared to do. For such an advanced client, Steam's download system really is atrocious.

To relieve server stress and to download in regions during slow times. But yeah. It was changed a little while back to act this way.

Yeah I thought I remembered it being different back in the day. Ah well, guess I'll go back to waiting for my update to finish. Thanks.
