Issue with PDP wired Xbox One controller
So I was having this issue with another Xbox One controller after it worked for a year, leading me to believe it had gone faulty and buy another one- only to experience the exact same issue. It's a wired controller, and everything happens in this order from a clean reboot without having the controller installed at all.

Controller light turns on as intended when plugged in, device software is installed properly. Launch game, controller functions as intended for roughly two minutes of gameplay (the controller will not cease to function until it has started to be used, by any program.) before inputs stop registering and the last registered input just continues infinitely. The light sometimes turns off during this, sometimes doesn't, and if the light is off the controller also ceases to register as being plugged in at all.

At this point, if the light was on and I unplug it and plug it back in, it will remain off and nothing will happen. If the light was off, it will do the same and remain off and nothing will happen. If I uninstall the driver and unplug and replug the device in, nothing will happen as if the controller hadn't even been plugged in. If I reboot, the same issue persists, unless I uninstall the driver and *then* I reboot while leaving the controller unplugged during the rebooting process (if I leave it plugged in then the controller won't register at all, same as before.) If I wait five minutes and then plug the controller back in, it will only then reinstall the drivers, but then I'm back to square one because the initial problem isn't solved.

I have found one or two threads with this same problem being detailed, but no solution was ever found, I just hope someone has a solution for me this time?

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
