Contacting Steam - Frustrating "Support"
In the many years if had a Steam account, I've never really had a problem worth contacting Steam for a solution about. However, now I'm in need of some information/clarification..

I'm trying to get a bit more information on the “I want to permanently remove this game from my account." function, but Support either leads me to performing the action or just leads me back here to the community.. So is there any other way of getting in contact with Steam "directly"?

If not (and i HAVE to use the community), here's my issue:
I understand that the Permanently-remove-function completely removes a game from my library, but what happens to the copy of the game after that? Can i give it to a friend? I still have the original packaging with CD and CD Key, so is he able to us it to install the game on his account afterwards?

Any light on the matter would be much appreciated.

The reason you couldn't contact Support regarding this is because it can be answered here instead and Support need to limit the influx and focus only on important queries and issues.

Even if you permanently remove the licence from your account; it can still be restored any time. The packaging with the CD and key are completely worthless and were ever since you activated the game on your account. the disc is only if you want to do an install without downloading the game in full and the key can only be used as proof of ownership if you ever lost access to your account. If you don't need the disc or the code for the above reasons, you may as well bin them.

As been said, all games (licences) activated on your account cannot be transferred/traded even if they are removed.

The copy is burned. The overarching rule of "You can't transfer games" still applies. Use Steam family sharing if you trust your friend and want him to play your game.

The game and it's key is permanently linked to your account and cannot be transferred.

If you purchase it again in the future you wouldn't get a new game + new key. Your old/current key would be reactivated and you'd have just wasted your money. You can actually have the permanently deleted game undeleted as the original key is linked to your accoutd no matter what.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thanks for the feedback, all. I guess I'll be giving the Family Sharing function some looking into.

As for Support,

I kinda figured it was something like that. Just found it a little odd that I couldn't find a single way way to get in touch. But that's life! :P Nothing against asking the community, I just couldn't find a clear answer after a while of looking around.

Thanks again!

I wouldn't say worthless. The key can still have value for providing proof of ownership if OP ever hes their account security compromised.

That's exactly what I said after that.

@James

Sorry misread what you wrote. By that I mean I didn't seem to absorb what you wrote after the part I quoted. Gonna be one of those days :steamfacepalm:

No worries haha! To be fair, I didn't help myself by saying it was worthless and then contradicting myself with two examples as to why they weren't worthless straight after!
