Valve I want my money back - Windows XP/Vista support

Hello all, I have received word that Valve will be stopping its support for Windows XP/ Vista systems and as a result am in need of help.

I, unlike many others, do not play on a windows 7 laptop but a windows vista one, as I believe that the software on that laptop is vastly superior to any other (and because my laptops hardware does not support such OS's). I was peacefully enjoying my time on this OS until Steam said that it will no longer be supporting it, and instead "recommended" that people like me should upgrade their systems; something I don't feel obliged to do. As a result of this, I think it would be fair if all of my steam games and purchases should be refunded as the service, which claimed to support my laptop at the time of making those purchases, now no longer does.

I think this is very unfair as Steam promised (when I made such purchases) that my system will be supported.

How can I contact Valve (via email) and ask them to refund the game? I've already tried going onto the Steam help page and have found nothing of help, so I've come here, I need of help.

For starters, you should read the User Licence agreement that you signed. I'm sorry, but you don't have any valid claim here.

hey even my old core 2 duo which orignally ran on windows vista had been upgraded to windows 7, then windows 10. the laptop battery is dead so i direct plugin to wall socket.

that laptop is over 10+ years, time to make a change.

Why would you be using Windows Vista? It's one of the worst operating systems, along with Windows 8. Windows XP, and Vista are obsolete. They hardly support anything. Steam will not refund you. You should've known that eventually this would happen, and plan for the future. But you choose not too. So get a better computer, or just simply install Windows 7 on your computer. Windows 7 will work fine with any horrid laptops. I have this really bad laptop, the CPU runs at 1.00 GHz, only has 4GB of ram, and integrated graphics. And it can run Windows 7 just fine. It even ran Windows 10, decently. So stop with the excuses. They will never in a million years refund you. You aren't special. The world doesn't revolve around you.

Yea you wont get a refund. Only way you will get a refund would be by taking valve to court and sueing them. That wont be a cheap or simple process.

I cannot see how Steam can support their client on an OS which is not being supported by MS themselves.

is this a joke? vista was a trainwreck of an operating system.

Was is the keyword. At first it was because the lack of proper driver support. A couple of service packs later it became actually some what stable. Yet by then Windows 7 was about to roll out so people just upgraded to that instead.

And you'd lose that case anyway. Valve's User Licence Agreement (which OP digitally signed) frees Valve of any legal responsibility. Valve is legally entitled under the EULA to stop supporting obsolete operating systems.

Spoiled? No. Educated? Yes. First off, I'm surpised this 2006 laptop can even run any games, due to the technology in laptops not being very vast, nor good. Secondly, use common sense. This operating system was made in 2006... Which was 12 years ago. Literally over a decade ago.. Things become obsolete, and non supportive anymore due to the general public not using it. So why support something that nobody ever uses? You're probably the 0.4 percent of people who actually game on Vista with Steam. Vista is trash, and it will always be trash. The only good operating system was Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 10. So get used to it. Same thing with smartphones. Do you see the iPhone 3G running IOS 11? No. Do you see the Galaxy S2 running Oreo? No. Do you see Windows 7 with support of the newest Google Chrome? No. You don't. That's called unsupporting. I'm suprised they even kept support for those 2 operating systems for that long, 12 years... Would you imagine that? I hardly did. Besides, it's easy as hell to install Windows 7 on a laptop. If you can't do something that easy, then you should not be using any form of technology. Hope you've been educated by a 17 year old you ignorant little adult.
