WIRED Xbox360 Controller WORKS WITH SOME games, but NOT OTHERS
Hi there! I did some searching and couldn't find a proper solution.

I've been using a wired Xbox 360 for years. Used to always work with any game- flawlessly. Right now, it works perfectly with:
- Rocket League
- Sonic: All-Stars Racing Transformed
- N++
- And I'm sure other games, but I'm not going to test my whole library

HOWEVER.... when I go to play Super Street Fighter 4, it acts weird -- as if one of my thumb sticks or D-Pad buttons (particularly the left and/or right ones) were broken.

Examples:
- In SSFIV, I can "Press Start", I can move up and down menus, I can press A & B and other buttons. But when it comes to moving left and right, the thing is wonky. When the character select screen appears, it RAPIDLY scrolls to the right thru all of the characters, and I cannot target and select the one I wish to play.
- I tried playing "A Story About My Uncle". Same thing, I cannot use my Xbox 360 controller to move around.

But I know nothing is wrong with my glorious Xbox 360 wired controller, because I can play Rocket League perfectly with it! A game that uses every button!

I don't have any other USB controllers plugged into my PC. I am on Windows 8.1

Does anyone know what the hell could be the issue? It's super annoying. I even tried launching both SF4 & ASAMU in Big Picture mode, and that did nothing. I also unchecked all Controller options: nothing. I then just checked the Xbox one: nothing.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!

FOUND WHAT THE ISSUE WAS:
I found what the issue was! Oh boy, this is a little embarrassing, but, I had a PS2 controller to USB adapter so that I could use my Guitar Hero controller & PS2 controller with certain games. THAT'S what was causing the issue! Upon disconnecting the USB adapter from my USB port on my motherboard -- problem solved! :)

Search Google for " how to fix drifting stick on xbox controller".

You got some sorta gunk/hair/food or a misaligned plastic thing in your controller.
Thank for your reply, but the thing is, if I did have a drifting sticking, how could it be possible that it works flawlessly in some games, but is wonky in others?
Each game may have a different calibration for the sticks. I have a controller that would drift like crazy in one game and be fine in something like Skyrim or FO4. Once I popped those 5-6 unique screws and pulled top shell off, I was able to get at the little rubber bands on the XY axis mechanism and remove debris.

My controller works perfect now, easy fix. Cant hurt to just open it up and check it out(except void your warranty).

It's because different games use different dead zone settings. The dead zone is the area which your stick is considered in a neutral position, so the larger the dead zone, the less impact a 'drifting stick' will have.
