120hz on a HDMI monitor?
so, im planning on getting a 120hz monitor but i have a laptop with a HDMI port
im looking at getting a BenQ ZOWIE XL2411P, which is a 144hz monitor but has a HDMI port, some people say the monitor only supports 60hz at 1080p which makes no sense unless the HDMI port is from atleast 2005. can i actually display 120hz at 1080p from a laptop HDMI port to a 144hz monitor?

Your HDMI version on the laptop needs to be 1.3 - 1.4b to be able to do 1080p 120Hz.
But it preferably would have to be 2.0.

And of course, monitor requires that same version too.
If either one is 1.2, you can only do 1080p 60hz.

USB-C is a data port, not monitor port.

For connecting phone to tv.
USB-C on phones is able to put out display data and connect to a tv that way through HDMI.

Technically HDMI 1.4 should be able to do up to 144hz. But 2.0 is highly recommended.
